Facilities

Accommodation:

All foreign students enrolled at SBU are privileged to live in College Housing. After final enrollment in Golestan Comprehensive System and obtaining a referral from the Department for Students Affairs, students will be introduced to the management of Hostels Affairs for accommodation. Housing matters at SBU are handled by the Hostels Affairs Office.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Dorm assignment are granted to students studying at SBU at all levels of education (Bachelor, Master and PhD). There is no possibility for granting hostels for married students at the Master & Bachelor levels. PhD students can apply for married residence and they need to wait their turn for services to become available.
  • Bachelor, Master and PhD students can benefit from dormitories for a maximum of 8 semesters, 4 semesters and 8 semesters respectively. If necessary and with the approval of international students’ management and dean of students’ affairs, dormitories can be extended for two semesters at all the education levels.
  • Accommodation rent for scholarship students up to 8 semesters for bachelor and PhD students and up to 4 semesters for master students is paid by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran. For any extended semesters, students are required to pay under the act of the Board of Directors of the University. For non-scholarship students, the cost of accommodation lies with the students themselves, according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

Food:

To meet the dining needs of students, SBU provides daily meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s possible for foreign students living in the main campus dormitories of SUB at all education levels to book meals at central dining hall and campus dormitories of boys/girls. In addition to the listed dining centers, PhD students can book the lunch meal at the PhD dining hall. It’s worth mentioning that breakfast and dinner meals are only delivered in the dormitories dining centers. In order to book their meals, students should follow the steps below:

  • Enter the Dining Service website. Log in using your student number as a username and the default password which is 123456. To note, Changing the password is recommended after the first login.
  • Food booking: click on the “book a meal” on the homepage and see the menu. Then choose your preferred dining center and the type of food. Finally, click on the “confirmation” button.
  • To charge your dining card, use the “supply increase” button. Possessing a credit card with secondary password is necessary.
  • Meals should be booked three days before they are served.
  • It should be noted that food delivery is possible by prior reservation. However, a few sell by day lunch meals is considered for all students which can be bought at certain times of that day and only through the dining service website by clicking the day-sell food button.
  • A valid student card is required for food delivery. In case of unavailability of a student card, students can use their secondary password for food delivery.
  • To change the secondary password of the dining card, use the Dining Service website (address given above) and go to “change the secondary password” button and specify the password of your choice.

Health Care and Medical Center:

Health care and medical services play a significant role in creating a dynamic academic society, providing that society with physical, psychological and social health and peace. All SBU students are entitled to the services of the student’s health care foundation which includes:

  • Specialized medical care
  • Mental care
  • Nursing Services
  • Dentistry
  • Women specialist
  • Optometry

To achieve this, the health care center of SBU, under the supervision of deputy of students’ social and cultural affairs, has undertaken the responsibility of providing health services to students and members. Medical and nursing facilities are available in the campus clinic. More intensive care is provided, if necessary, at hospitals working under SBU medical schools.

Central Laboratory of SBU:

The University’s central laboratory s one of the largest and most sophisticated facilities in Iran. SBU’s lab is ready to serve researchers. SBU’s lab  can provide the following services, based on the most advanced electronic and atomic microscopes:

  • High performance computing
  • Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
  • Point, line, area and plate analysis
  • Micro-scale to the atomic scale imaging
  • Complex numerical computing and parallel computing
  • TMicroscopic images at nanometer and higher resolution

Central Library:

The central library and documents center was established in 1960. The central library provides technical services to 11 faculty libraries and 4 research institute libraries. The collection includes valuable titles in English, Persian, Arabic and other languages. It contains thousands of books in specialized categories.
